How do you keep up on your hands soft?

Affect the use of detergents in the home work on your hands and skin, their appearance. How you keep them after you use liquid detergent.

Is that the wash your hands with soap and water after the end of home work to remove the effects of detergents, and use gloves when washing dishes and avoid touching the chlorine and relieved by strong detergents.

Might want to use cosmetics to maintain normal skin of your hands, such as olive oil or Vaseline and then washed well with water to feel soft hands. In case you want to hand-bleaching can be used several recipes.

Initial: mixing a teaspoon of lemon juice and one teaspoon of olive oil, and one teaspoon of lukewarm water and then put the mixture on the hands with a massage, then wipe dry with a tissue hand, preferably to be used this way in the evening.

II: equal amounts of lemon juice and potatoes of the places you want to paint the whitening such as the hands, in less than a week the results will begin to appear, this recipe can be used for all skin types.

III: one teaspoon honey and a half, ten tablespoons Rose water and 4 tablespoons glycerine, and half teaspoon vinegar, honey heated pan over low heat and then mix with the other ingredients and put on the hands for half an hour.

Scott Barnes Body Bling

In my Contouring & Highlighting video I talked about (and used) Body Bling from Scott Barnes. Check out his tutorial below where he demonstrates how to apply it and how it looks on the skin. It's probably the prettiest body bronzer I've used to date because the slight shimmer effect brings the skin to life while the bronzy color mimics a perfect tan.

You can find Body Bling HERE on his site, but I got mine recently at Kitson where they were fully stocked.

Oscar Night Red Carpet Photos 2010 Sarah Jessica Parker

Now you know I love me some Carrie Bradshaw, but I'm so not loving SJP's Oscar look. It's another great lesson on how the texture of the makeup is as important as the colors themselves. There is an undeniable heaviness to her eye shadows and liner that overpower her eyes making them look smaller. I would've done away with the drop shadow under her eyes (no liner or color underneath), and then given her a bigger false lash to open her eyes and draw the focus upward. She's way too pretty to look like she's drowning in heavy makeup.

Oscar Night Red Carpet Photos 2010; Sandra Bullock

Red isn't the only color on the menu when it comes to punching up those lips. Sandra Bullock wore a bold pink hue on her lips which complimented her platinum gown and carnation pink cheeks. Beige tones brought her eyes out beautifully without overpowering the look. It wasn't a safe choice, but it was the right one. Just a little extra color on the face can make a huge difference, try something bold and have fun with makeup.

Oscar Night Red Carpet Photos 2010 Kathryn Bigelow

Kathryn Bigelow is the first women to win an Oscar for Best Director, she was favored to win and she knew the night was hers. Somewhere along the way while putting together her look for the night, she decided to break from tradition and wear her hair *gasp* down. While the norm in formal hair is to wear it up, don't worry so much about rules. If you have a personal style that works for you, stick with it, I'm sure she felt comfortable and more like herself (plus she looked fantastic). The only rule left is that there aren't rules anymore when it comes to your personal style.

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Collection Spring/Summer 2010

Spring must have sprung because Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess Collection has officially been released. This year Lauder introduces a (limited edition) line of makeup, fragrance, and skincare that will transform you into a tropical beach babe.

Here's a shot of me wearing the collection.

Oh wait, that's actually not me at all, but it sure does show the magic of their Liquid EyeShadow in the sizzling blue Aqua Flash shade. Ultra Violet is pretty eye-catching too and both nicely compliment the remaining two universally flattering shades; Sand Shimmer, and Molten Bronze. These 4 tubes have sponge-tip applicators (like a lip gloss) that you dab on your lids and either pat in with your fingers or blend it with a brush. I like the unique texture of the shadows which feels like a weightless mousse that settles nicely into the lids- even mature, dry lids because of the light formula. They don't cake, crease, or smudge and they wear a really long time.

Here's a shot I took that shows the colors well.

Here's another shot where the writing isn't visible so you can see the shades a little better.

The brunette bombshell above is sporting their Coral Look which consists of these products below. You can find the full color lineup of what was used for the look HERE.

Exotic Orchid is their other look, bright and pinky with a shot of bronze which uses these products shown below.

It's a fun collection and a look that's tropical, exotic, and eye-popping so you can kick-start spring with some splashy color.

But it wouldn't be a Bronze Goddess collection without something to get us all bronzy would it? Their well-loved sunless tanning formula comes in a base of gelée, milk, or a lotion that will get you that deep, even, safe tan. I use the Milk, which is colorless, but the tinted gelée for the body has a little bronzer to it so you can see exactly where it's going for a fool-proof application with zero streaking.

Within the past few months I've become a bronzer junkie. I don't know why I wasn't bronzing before (I always bronze everyone else) but now I rarely leave the house without a light dusting of the sunny powder. Their eye-catching Exotic Bronzing Blush, combines the two so you can balance out rosy with bronzy- a big trend right now. I'll be using their Bronzing Gel with a little moisturizer on my neck which is way lighter than my face. It's a perfect bronzy shade that isn't too dark on its own, but you can cut it with moisturizer to lighten it up for natural looking color.

One of the reasons I love Lauder is because they value tradition. They keep products they know are well-loved even if they aren't mainstream anymore. Bronze Goddess is another tradition I look forward to getting year after year. It's timeless, it's sexy, and it never disappoints.

How to Smoky Eye Makeup

The smoky eye is fall’s number one beauty trend. On the runways, we can see everything from glam rock gray to smoldering sexy color.

To achieve that smoky eye look, you want to make sure that you do your eyes first. You don’t need a full face of makeup when you’re wearing smoky eyes.

One of our favorite looks is actually showing the smoky eye with a little bit of color. So using colors like browns, violets, and blues can achieve that sexy smoldering look without as much black. We’re also seeing smoky in a different way. It could be smoky in a colorful way or smoky in a traditional way. You can also do a light smoky or dark smoky eye.

With this type of look, you start with giving the eyes the deepest color then blend up in your eyelids. Then you take it under, this look is supposed to be sexy. It’s an undone kind of look.

Go in the inside of the eye with an eye pencil, this gives the smoky eye a little more richness and depth. With the pencil, get both corners of the eye. So really, a smudge pot and a black pencil is all you need to achieve the smoky eye.

Over the entire lid, place a light color then take the darker shadow and work that into the crease of the eye. Keep the dark shade against the lashes, in the crease, and extending it out.

So you’ll be working with two colors basically. It’s very simple. Underneath the same thing, you could use the darker shadow and apply it along the base of the eyelash. Then you would just finish with a coat of mascara.

So, now you can score this smoldering smoky eye look yourself.

Up to a third of breast cancers could be avoided

BARCELONA, Spain – Up to a third of breast cancer cases in Western countries could be avoided if women ate less and exercised more, researchers at a conference said Thursday, renewing a sensitive debate about how lifestyle factors affect the disease.

Better treatments, early diagnosis and mammogram screenings have dramatically slowed breast cancer, but experts said the focus should now shift to changing behaviors like diet and physical activity.

"What can be achieved with screening has been achieved. We can't do much more," Carlo La Vecchia, head of epidemiology at the University of Milan, said in an interview. "It's time to move on to other things."

La Vecchia spoke Thursday at a European breast cancer conference in Barcelona. He cited figures from the International Agency for Research on Cancer, which estimates that 25 to 30 percent of breast cancer cases could be avoided if women were thinner and exercised more. The agency is part of the World Health Organization.

His comments are in line with recent health advice that lifestyle changes in areas such as smoking, diet, exercise and sun exposure can play a significant role in risk for several cancers.

Dr. Michelle Holmes of Harvard University, who has studied cancer and lifestyle factors, said people might wrongly think their chances of getting cancer depend more on their genes than their lifestyle.

"The genes have been there for thousands of years, but if cancer rates are changing in a lifetime, that doesn't have much to do with genes," she told The Associated Press in a phone interview from Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women. In Europe, there were about 421,000 new cases and nearly 90,000 deaths in 2008, the latest available figures. The United States last year saw more than 190,000 new cases and 40,000 deaths.

A woman's lifetime chance of getting breast cancer is about one in eight. Obese women are up to 60 percent more likely to develop any cancer than normal-weight women, according to a 2006 study by British researchers.

Many breast cancers are fueled by estrogen, a hormone produced in fat tissue. So experts suspect that the fatter a woman is, the more estrogen she's likely to produce, which could in turn fuel breast cancer. Even in slim women, experts believe exercise can help reduce the cancer risk by converting more fat into muscle.

Yet any discussion of weight and breast cancer is considered sensitive because some may misconstrue that as the medical establishment blaming women for their disease.

Tara Beaumont, a clinical nurse specialist at Breast Cancer Care, a British charity, said her agency has always been careful about giving lifestyle advice. She noted that three of the major risk factors for breast cancer — gender, age and family history — are clearly beyond anyone's control.

"It is incredibly difficult to isolate specific factors. Therefore women should in no way feel that they are responsible for developing breast cancer," she said.

Yet Karen Benn, a spokeswoman for Europa Donna, a patient-focused breast cancer group, said it was impossible to ignore the increasingly stronger links between lifestyle and breast cancer.

"If we know there are healthier choices, we can't not recommend them just because people might misinterpret the advice and feel guilty," she said. "If we are going to prevent breast cancer, then this message needs to get out, particularly to younger women."

That means avoiding becoming overweight as an adult. Robert Baan, a cancer expert with the international cancer research agency, said it isn't clear if women who lose weight can lower their risk to the level of a woman who was never fat.

The American Cancer Society Web site says the connection between weight and cancer risk is complex. It says risk appears to increase for women who gain weight as adults, but not for women who have been overweight since childhood. The cancer society recommends 45 to 60 minutes of physical activity five or more days a week to reduce the risk of breast cancer.

Drinking less alcohol might also help. Experts estimate that having more than a couple of drinks a day can boost the risk of breast cancer by 4 to 10 percent.

After studies several years ago linked hormone-replacement therapy to cancer, millions of women abandoned the treatment, leading to a sharp drop in breast cancer rates. Experts said a similar reduction might be seen if women ate healthier and exercised more.

Holmes, the Harvard expert, said changing diet and nutrition is arguably easier than tackling other breast cancer risk factors.

In the 1980s and 1990s, breast cancer rates steadily increased, paralleling a rise in obesity and the use of estrogen-containing hormones after menopause.

La Vecchia said countries like Italy and France — where obesity rates have been stable for the past two decades — show that weight can be controlled at a population level.

"It's hard to lose weight, but it's not impossible," he said. "The potential benefit of preventing cancer is worth it."

1 food that can help you sleep and 5 that might not

Since I’ve become a mom, it’s a challenge for me to get enough sleep. It’s become harder for me to fall asleep because I’m thinking about work, the baby, all the stuff that needs to be done around the house, what to make for dinner the next night...and the list goes on. (At least I’ve got a handle on the dinner thing—I either make one of these cheap, 30-minute dinner recipes or make a super-easy meal in my slow cooker.)

I’m not OK with getting less than the recommended 8 to 9 hours per night, since sleep is so important to my health and my figure (research links weight gain with sleep loss). (Find 5 foods that do the weight-loss work for you here.)

So in the interest of giving myself the best chance for a good night’s sleep (especially with the spring time change), I took a look at advice from EatingWell Nutrition Advisory Board member Dr. Rachel Johnson on which foods and drinks can help promote better sleep. Here’s what the research says:

Carbohydrate-Rich Dinners (This one works!): A light bedtime snack can stave off hunger, a known sleep robber. But eating quickly-digested carbs (a.k.a, “high-glycemic-index” or “GI” carbohydrates such as jasmine rice) hours earlier at dinner—might also help. A study found that when healthy sleepers ate carbohydrate-rich suppers of veggies and tomato sauce over rice, they fell asleep significantly faster at bedtime if the meal included high-GI jasmine rice rather than lower-GI long-grain rice. The study authors speculated that the high-GI meals triggered greater amounts of insulin, which increased the ratio of tryptophan relative to other amino acids in the blood, allowing proportionately more to get into the brain and make people drowsy.

Warm Milk: Decades ago, scientists looked into this folk remedy and posited that tryptophan, an amino acid in milk (and turkey), might be responsible for its supposed sleep-inducing effects. Earlier research had shown that when tryptophan is released into the brain, it produces serotonin—a serenity-boosting neurotransmitter. But when milk (and other tryptophan-rich foods) were tested, they failed to affect sleep patterns, perhaps because other amino acids in those foods competed with tryptophan to get into the brain. Warm milk at bedtime may be comforting, but it won’t boost sleep-promoting serotonin.

Herbal Tea: Chamomile, lemon balm, hops and passionflower are all touted for their sleep-promoting properties. You’ll often find them in “sleep-formula” tea blends, but unfortunately their effectiveness hasn’t been proven in clinical studies, according to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Some experts say that these teas may work for some, and a warm liquid before bed may make you sleepy by generating body heat. That said, a cup of “sleep-time” tea might be worth a try.

Caffeine: Caffeine affects everyone differently, so if you’re sensitive it might be worth trying to cut down—or limit caffeine to the morning only. This can mean more than just cutting out a cup of coffee. The major sources of caffeine in Americans’ diets are coffee (71 percent), soft drinks (16 percent) and teas (12 percent) but chocolate is also a source. Our ability to excrete caffeine decreases with age so while you might have tolerated four cups of coffee a day when you were 20, you’ll probably need to cut down as you get older. Cut down on caffeine or limit it to the morning; if insomnia persists, consider going cold turkey. Try this drink to cure a headache & 4 more home remedies for common ailments.

Sleep Supplements: Shelves in supplement stores are stacked with sleep formulas. According to one NIH survey conducted in 2002, 1.6 million people tried complementary or alternative therapies like these, and over half of them reported their insomnia improved “a great deal.” However, those glowing anecdotes haven’t been backed up by rigorous scientific study; evaluations of most nutritional supplements haven’t shown any effects whatsoever. The one exception is valerian root, which seemed to help improve sleep (with rare, and mild, side effects, such as stomach upset). But finding an effective formulation of valerian root is tricky, since the FDA doesn’t regulate herbal supplements. Don’t waste your money on sleep supplements; hold off on using valerian until standardized formulations become available.

Blow NYC, Can A Wavy Hair Girl Actually Look Good?

Recently I've been wearing my hair wavy more often. Why? I finally have a way to wear my hair wavy that looks decent!

Let me explain. I have what a friend of mine calls "Trash Waves", meaning hair that is wavy enough to not be straight but not wavy enough to be pretty (she has the same issue). So, both of us end up straightening our hair each day. I've tried a lot of different styling products meant for curly hair girls in an effort to create pretty waves, but my lack of success really hasn't been worth mentioning here.

So, I was interested in trying out these new products from Blow, a great salon in New York that specializes in the blow out!

The Wave Maker is a light lotion with a faint floral scent. I apply about a blueberry sized amount to my palm and rub through wet hair, comb through and then scrunch up. I've been drying my hair with a diffuser most days but this works great with air drying as well! Once dry I've then spray in the Beach Blow, twist my hair with my fingers to create more waves and that's it!

Perfect waves that last all day, not a curling iron in sight!

Quick Curly Weekend Hair? Can I Have It?

I was incredibly impressed with White Sands' Stuck Up Hair Spray when I reviewed it. So, when I received a press released describing their new mousse, I had to try it out! They described how the mouse promised that the mouse (in it's medium or firm hold forms) would encourage hair to "group together and turn over each other, which creates a new curl pattern." To me, this sounded hopeful for helping me turn my wavy hair (which consists of small caliber waves/curls in very small groups of hair) into either big bouncy curls, or maybe some big waves. Obviously, these are pipe dreams.

So, my first trial with this product was me simply scrunching my hair and using a diffuser then allowing it to air dry the rest of the way. While my curls definitely had a bit more hair in each of them, I still looked like DJ Tanner, much like Kristen over at Beauty Addict! ARG!

So, next I decided that I'd try a different take, and I'd attempt a more wavy look. I applied the mouse with a wide toothed comb, then separated my hair into about 5 big sections. I twisted each section a bit, curled it up and then stuck a little plastic claw clip from Goody into the mini bun I'd created to hold it there loosely. I then used my diffuser to dry my hair. Once removed I had very pretty waves, definitely bigger than I usually do with this technique, and they stayed up all day!

The products are both a bit more "firm" feeling when they come out of the can than other mousses that I've tried in the past. They are easy to spread through my hair, have a great apricot/fruit scent and did help create a bit more shine. Best of all I couldn't tell that there was any product in my hair because it didn't feel sticky, crunchy or weighed down. I personally had the same results with both the firm and medium hold products, though if your hair is straighter than mine you might want to veer more towards the firm hold.

I do not think that my experience with the scrunching method is representative of what will happen for everyone, this is just what happened with my level of curl. I think if you have stick straight hair the scrunching is likely to do absolutely nothing for you. However, you will likely have a lot of luck with the twirling like I used, as that creates the curl. I haven't used this mousse yet with curling my hair, but something tells me that my curls will stick around all day and look perfect!

Good Hair Day in a Box, By Redken

During my blogging break, I was determined to find some great beauty items on my own, with no input from publicists, press releases or even other bloggers. I wanted to walk into stores and discover something amazing.

Actually it happened. See those 2 cans there? I discovered those in the clearance section of ULTA! It was a box, marked down to about $8 or something insanely low. Two cans. The box promised incredible volume and hold. It said to use Guts 10 Spray Foam on wet hair, blow dry, then curl and set using the Forceful 23 Finishing Spray. Big bouncy curls that last all day? Sign me up! That box quickly went in to my basket.

I love these cans. The products in them are amazing. The Guts Foam sprays onto your hair, quickly foaming up like a mouse. It is easy to control the direction of the spray, whether you want volume and put it on your roots or more hold and put it on the rest of your hair (I like both, so I separate hair and put it in a few root areas then spray it down the length of my hair). I use a wide tooth comb to distribute it evenly throughout my wet hair. I then blow dry as usual. Since I use this product on days that I plan to curl my hair I don't take the extra time to perfectly straighten my hair. I just get it dry, fairly straight using my paddle brush and I do a lot of the drying with my head flipped over to keep volume.

Next I set my hair with hot rollers. I know, it's very 1980's of me, but I love hot rollers! The curl really does last all day, and it's pretty fast to roll my hair quickly and let them cool while I put on makeup. With a curling iron doing the same look can take me about 45 minutes, instead of the 3 minutes or so to roll my hair. I use an older version of these Conair curlers, which I love for the different sizes available in 1 set. I use the medium and large sized rollers, dividing hair into about 1 to 2 inch sections depending on the curler size. Really I'm not at all scientific about it, I just grab chunks of hair based on about how big they need to be to set all of my hair without using the really little curlers. I roll the bottom 1/2 to 1/3 of my hair around the curler and then roll the whole thing up to hold the curler in the hair. I wait until it all cools down, then take out the curlers. I run my fingers through my hair to separate the curls since my aim is to have waves, not spiral curls. I finish with a few sprays of the Finishing spray.

The end result is a lot of volume, with pretty waves. I had my hubby take this pic of my hair from behind, which shows some of the waves. This picture was taken at 8:30 pm, and my hair looks the same as it did at 8:30 am!

Overall I'm very happy. I love this look. My hair has great volume, the wave stays all day, and my hair is actually touchable. It doesn't feel crunchy or sticky (it does feel like there is product in it, but I don't feel the need to wash my hair after touching it).

Clean and Clear's Soft Day Oil Free Moisturizer SPF 15

I know I've said it over and over, but I'll say it again. Everyone needs a gentle cleanser, a moisturizer and a sunscreen. Well, here's a very well priced, easy to find product that kills 2 birds with 1 stone! On top of that, it is easy to find!

I've tried a few products now from the new Clean & Clear Soft line, and I really have to admit that I have been very impressed with all of them!

I really enjoyed using this moisturizer. It has a light floral/citrus scent that faded quickly. The moisturizer is creamy and feels silky as you apply. It sinks in right away, leaving no residue behind! It really helped to create a great base for makeup application. It was just the right amount of moisture for both my oily T-Zone and drier cheeks! A quick glance at the sunscreen chart below shows us that it even offers broad spectrum UV coverage!

Active Ingredients (refer to the sunscreen ingredient post):

• Avobenzone 3%

Silk'n SensEpil At Home Laser Hair Removal

As is generally my first impression with all products and devices of this nature, I was skeptical this tool would live up to the claims. And ... as has also been my experience many a time, I was wrong. Let's explore the Silk'n SensEpil a little more.

A portable, FDA cleared device that offers the visual results of in-office laser hair removal in the convenience and privacy of your own home. Really? Yes!

Silk'n SensEpil is an over-the-counter innovation that delivers the clinically proven effectiveness of the well-established, market-leading Silk'n™ sold by physicians. This breakthrough product harnesses the power of proprietary Home Pulsed Light™ (HPL™) technology to create a cutting-edge, safe, user-friendly hair-eliminating solution.

Since its launch last year, this little machine has been earning rave reviews for its effectiveness, ease, and in-home availability. If you want a quick, gentle, safe, and affordable way to diminish unwanted body hair, Silk'n SensEpil really is the way to go. Hold on to your seat a second as the retail price for the device is $499.

Roxy, I though you said this was an affordable way to diminish unwanted hair? Yes, I did. Compare the Silk'n SensEpil to in-salon laser hair removal treatments and this product is a bargain. You won't even find price lists for laser hair removal posted online for salons most of the time because the procedure can be so costly AND generally repeat sessions are needed to gain effective results. Go ahead, google laser hair removal and see if you can find pricing. This device with replacement cartridges provides a lifetime of personal treatments at a fraction of the cost of physician office visits. I'll tell you how you can even purchase the device with payments over time in just a bit.

Each Silk'n SensEpil packaged unit comes with:
Silk'n SensEpil device
Instructional DVD
Quick start guide and user's manual
Lamp cartridge (with 750 pulses)
Power cord

With just two-to-four self-treatment sessions, most users experience visually diminished hair that is comparable to results produced by professionally administered laser procedures. Six to eight treatments yields even better results!

User satisfaction and clinical results to consider:

80% of users experienced a noticeable reduction in hair after 3 months.
90% preferred using Silk'n to visiting a spa or salon.
90% said they would recommend Silk'n to a friend.
90% described Silk'n as convenient, easy, useful, and innovative.

The Silk'n SensEpil device features state-of-the-art, skin-sensing technology that dramatically increases the safety of the already safe and reliable Silk'n brand. SensEpil's built-in skin sensor will only activate a pulse of light energy onto appropriate skin types, ensuring maximal safety. It is designed for use on legs, arms, underarms, bikini lines, and other areas of the body where hair removal is desired; it is not recommended for use on the face. This tool is ideal for use with lighter skin tones.

I'm very pleased with the results from Silk'n SensEpil. It does take some committment as the treatments take time to show visible results, but it's well worth it in the long run. Hair seems to become less course, is thinner in grow-out, lighter and after having used the device for the past eight weeks I'm not having to shave or wax for long periods of times!

Silk'n SensEpil retails for $499 and is available at Sephora and at Silkn.com, where you may also choose to purchase the device in smaller payments

Chris Benz x Lancôme: Pout-à-Porter Lipstick Collection Continues

Lancôme is thrilled to announce they're bringing back the Pout-à-Porter Lipstick series!

The previous four lipsticks in this collection were collaborations with celebrated designers Behnaz Sarafpour, Proenza Schouler, Peter Som and Thakoon. Thakoon's Pixel Pink and Peter Som's P.S. Kiss were my two personal favorites, though all four of them received lots of love from the beauty blogging community and from editorial print. All four of the lipsticks sold out in their heyday, and one Proenza Pink lipstick even sold for $122.50 on eBay.

For Spring 2010 Lancôme is collaborating with emerging designer Chris Benz and they want your help! They're doing a lipstick naming contest that was announced on Chris Benz’s Facebook fan page today and they're spreading the word to all the beauty blogging readers. The new shade will be inspired by Chris’ Spring 2010 collection and will be worn by the models at his show in September. The contest winner will receive five of the lipsticks plus a $500 Lancôme gift certificate. All you have to do is post your name suggestion on Chris’ Facebook fan page based on what you know about Chris and his fashion personality.

NARS Spring 2010 Collection

The NARS Spring 2010 Collection was photographed by NARS Cosmetics Founder and Creative Director François Nars. François created the makeup look and cast supermodel Amber Valletta, who is a long-time collaborator of his. Elegant and versatile, the look is confident, cosmopolitan and polished. And although all of the new shades for this collection are gorgeous, my favorite product is by far this eyeshadow duo!

Kuala Lumpur Eyeshadow Duo ($32) is a perfectly harmonized gold infused rose and boysenberry pairing influenced by contrasts - traditional yet modern, like is namesake. The rose gold (left) part of this duo is absolutely stunning. It's a shimmery metallic almost peachy looking color in the compact but applies with a hint of rosey-pink for an unexpected femininity that is gorgeous on every eye color. The plummy boysenberry is the perfect companion setting off the lighter shade in a contrast that just works! This is a shadow you really must see in person to appreciate. I've worn it every day since purchasing last week and I'll be wearing it again tomorrow. For a great multi-tasking use of this duo, apply the lighter color to the lid and the darkershade in the crease for definition. Take a fine eyeliner brush and dampen with water, then use the boysenberry shade as liner as close to the upper lash line as possible. Complete the look with several coats of your favorite black mascara. Stunning!

Need a little more purple in your life? Hot, hot, hot for spring is every shade of purple on the fingers and toes. Walking a line between gothic rocker and regally refined, the deep, jewel-toned perfection of NARS Purple Rain ($16) is fast becoming a go-to accessory for gals wanting to get a headstart on springtime trending.

Many other lovely products grace NARS' spring collection. View them online at NARS Cosmetics, at NARS beauty counters or Sephora.

VOGUE: Enter to Win "The September Issue: Anna Wintour & the Making of Vogue

As the cover implies ... "if fashion is a religion, THIS is the bible!"

Director: R.J. Cutler
Cast: Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington, Andre Leon Talley, Thakoon Panichgul
Editorial Review

Vogue has been the most powerful and best-respected fashion magazine in the world for decades, and each year the journal devotes a fall issue to the designs and designers that the editors feel will be influential in the coming year. The September 2007 issue of Vogue, that year's annual Fall Fashion issue, became the biggest single issue in the magazine's long history, and filmmaker R.J. Cutler was given unprecedented access to Vogue's creative team as the issue was being prepared. The September Issue is a documentary which focuses on Vogue editor Anna Wintour as she visits the annual Fashion Week shows, accepts or dismisses the latest creations of the biggest names in fashion, works with the models, photographers, and writers who help bring her vision to the page, and labors with her staff to determine what the world's fashionistas will be wearing for the next 12 months. The September Issue received its world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, where it received an award for excellence in documentary cinematography.

he September Issue offers unprecedented access to the inside world of Vogue. It documents extraordinary talent working under demanding circumstances to publish an editorial product that consistently delivers the uncompromising vision and creative rigor you have come to count on month after month.

Vogue has teamed up with Barnes & Noble to give away 50 DVD sets of an exclusive edition of The September Issue -- complete with 90 minutes of new footage, including never-before-seen scenes from the annual Met Ball -- the fashion party of the year.

Rouge Coco: Mademoiselle's Favorite Lipstick

Gabrielle Chanel was fascinated by lipstick to such an extent that she created a creamy stick of lip colour in 1954 that she inserted in a rectangular tube, the exact replica of the No 5 spray bottle. She even reserved the famous leather compartment inside each 2.55 quilted handbag. This historic lipstick has continuously adapted to new technological innovations.

The Anatomy of Chic ~ A Timeless Classic

CHANEL brings the iconic packaging of the historic lipstick by Coco Chanel into the Rouge Coco era. A black case with a gold ring in smooth, luxurious metal with a fresh feel that is instantly recognizable each time that you plunge your hand into your handbag to find your lipstick.

Comfort and Sensory Pleasure

Its creamy texture dresses the lips in luxury for a satiny, luminous result.
Hydration: The HYDRATENDER complex guarantees 8-hour hydration
Colour: Thanks to extremely fine pigments, the radiance of the colour preserves lip comfort

Fragrance: A bouquet of fresh roses enhanced with a fruity raspberry accord over a powdery, iridescent base with a hint of vanilla

Two looks specially created for CHANEL by Creative Makeup Director Peter Philips. More looks may be viewed online at Chanel.com.

Please visit CHANEL online for more information about Rouge Coco and to experience the making of the Rouge Coco film and learn more about the legendary Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel and current muse Vanessa Paradis.

HauteLook: Swoon-Worthy Sale on Rapturous D.L. & Co. Modern Alchemist Candles

D.L. & Company was born of the desire to bring the textures and fragrances of antique opulence, beauty, and alchemical transformation to the world of luxury products. Having long worked in the beauty industry, Mr. Douglas Little was astounded by the soulless, vapid, and pedestrian merchandise which was created and marketed to clients who both wanted and deserved more.

Leaving the professional world to immerse himself in the histories and traditions of the mysterious world of perfume, Mr. Little studied natural perfumery first with Aftelier, and later at the Grasse Institute of Perfumery. With technical studies behind him, Mr. Little sought to transform the mundane into the magnificent using his eccentric style and unique take on poisonous plants, atmospheric recreations, and the use of the rarest and most seductive natural essences.

Now known as one of the industry's most extraordinarily innovative and unusual brands, Mr. Douglas Little continues to inspire with his dark imagery, seductive fragrances, and seemingly endless inspirations drawn from art history, the ancient world, modern trends in fashion and art, and in particular his defining ethos; that true luxury affects all the senses, and that with true luxury, the individual is transported and transformed by it-- that is why he calls what he does "Modern Alchemy."

MODERN ALCHEMY

Alchemy is the ancient art of transformation. It is the endless pursuit of the alchemist to render the common uncommon. Modern Alchemy continues this tradition by offering a collection of exquisitely perfumed candles that change your environment from the ordinary to the sublime. Each perfume is blended from rare and exotic absolutes, concretes and essential oils imported from around the world.

Every candle is made from our proprietary blend of soy, maple and palm waxes, hand-poured into an elegant etched glass vessel.

ALCHEMY WAS THE MEDIEVAL PURSUIT TO TRANSFORM UN-PRECIOUS METALS INTO GOLD THROUGH A COMBINATION OF MAGIC AND SCIENCE. UTILIZING THE RAREST OF EXTRACTS, ESSENCES AND ABSOLUTES. WE ARE ABLE TO CREATE FRAGRANCES THAT CONJURE TIME AND PLACE, TRANSFORMING ENVIRONMENTS FROM THE MUNDANE TO THE SUBLIME.

D.L. & Co.'s sensuous candle creations, objects and curioisities, and packaging are to be appreciated for the art that they are! These are among some of the most sought after and cherished candles and fragrances in the world. Your opportunity to enjoy them at a bit less price comes on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 only via HauteLook.

REVIEW: La Mer The Regenerating Serum + Free Sample Offer

Oh how I've been waiting for a fabulous new product offering from La Mer, and here it is!

Introducing La Mer The Regenerating Serum

A skincare powerhouse that diminishes the appearance of lines, wrinkles and pores, infusing skin with the look of youth. Current scientific studies suggest that lines and wrinkles are "micro-scars" to skin's underlying support network. Their formation is thought to be triggered by chronic inflammation caused by a variety of internal and extrneral stressors such as UV sunlight and free radicals. These inflammatory stressoprs can lead to the destruction of collagen, which in turn provokes premature skin aging.

Inspired by these findings, The Max Huber Research Labs have created The Regenerating Serum, La Mer's new anti-aging powerhouse. Four years and hundreds of hours of lab work in the making, this ultra-luxe elixir is the result of the combined effort of physicists, marine botanists and biologists around the world. Not only does it contain a high concentration of La Mer's proprietary Miracle Broth, but it also includes the new Regenerating Ferment, derived from marine plant stem cells. The Regenerating Ferment helps skin trigger its natural production of collagen, elastin and other "youth proteins", harnessing the power of the skin's ability to renew its appearance.

Powerful Anti-Aging Ingredients

* Miracle Broth: The original fermented elixir known for its healing properties developed by Dr. Max Huber

* The Regerating Ferment: A new bio-ferment containing potent marine plant stem cells, which assist in the skin's renewal, helping support its natural structure, restore its integrity and protect it from external aggressors.

* The Marine Peptide Ferment: An anti-aging marine algae and peptide complex that helps firm the look of skin and boost its natural collagen production, reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

* Colloidal Gold: A skincare super-conductor that effectively delivers skin smoothing, firming, and anti-irritant benefits to skin.

* Lime Tea: A unique lime peel extraction, and one of Dr. Huber's original ingredients included in Creme de la Mer - a perfect antioxidant companion to the Miracle Broth.

This is a lightweight creamy serum that feels wonderful on the skin. It is quickly absorbed and has assisted my uneven skin tone in appearing more even and renewed. After two weeks use I can say my skin is healthier in appearance, more toned, feels firmer, and surprisingly brighter and more even in complexion. I'm enjoying the refreshed, smooth feel of my skin after applying the serum each night. The scent is very subtle, light and fresh in aroma. I encourage anyone wanting to renew aging skin to give La Mer's The Regenerating Serum a try. It retails for $250 in a 1 oz bottle, which I realize is a bit extravagant, but worth the luxury if you're able to at least sample it. Available new this month at select saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and at LaMer online.

Your chance to try this lovely serum is available right now through Bliss Spa, but only until 3/19/10 so hurry if you want to try it! Receive a deluxe sample of the serum and complimentary shipping with any La Mer purchase online at Bliss.

HAUTELOOK: Want the Benefit of Resveratrol, Pomegranate AND Acai in ONE Product?

Must confess I hadn't heard of this until visiting HauteLook's current sales. Though there it is, in all its healthy glory ... Pure Inventions Antioxidant Fruit Extracts. This one (above) in particular caught my eye as it contains all the skincare antioxidant benefits of resveratrol, pomegranate and acai berry!

"When we supply our bodies with the proper nutrients, diet and exercise we achieve balance in our bodies and in our lives. We can then achieve our highest aspirations of health, wellness and peak performance."

Pure Inventions is the creation of lifelong friends Lynne Gerhards and Lori Mulligan both Certified Clinical Nutritionists and Nutritional Consultants. Founded in 2003, Pure Inventions is the true pioneer of nutritional, liquid supplements in the beauty industry and a trendsetter in the healthy lifestyle industry.

Here's the idea behind Pure Inventions products. Enhance your favorite drinking water (hot or cold) with the delicious extract. This formula is rich in antioxidants and designed to provide multiple health benefits. Acai berries are known as the energy fruit, and this extract also includes grape pomace (resveratrol).

It is all natural and contains no calories, sugar, fructose, artificial sweeteners, caffeine, preservatives, alcohol or glutens.

What it Is: This extract contains Pomegranates, which are extremely high in powerful antioxidants, and are used to promote good health and well being, as well as Acai Berry, which is known as the energy fruit. Also found in this extract is grape pomace (which contains resveratrol), an extremely potent and heart healthy polyphenol, with amazing anti-aging properties.

Size: 4 oz (60 servings)
Directions: Add two droppers full to 8 oz. of water (hot or cold, flat or sparkling, in a water bottle or in a tall glass with ice). Squeeze in a wedge of citrus for an extra burst! It is also delicious on oatmeal or yogurt.

High antioxidant value - just add to water for a healthy alternative beverage.

Flavor: Pomegranate Acai
Scent: Pomegranates
Active Ingredients: Grape Pomace, Acai Berry, Pomegranates
